You often forget how much you love Bauhaus, but then you catch "Bela Lugosi's Dead" on Sirus XM, and then it all comes rushing back: those ambient, airy soundscapes, the creeking guitar, the dub beats, the plodding but steady bassline, all of it echoing, reverberating over Murphy's ghoulish vocals. You can't beat it and (mercifully) few have actually tried (I'd put Interpol more in the Joy Division-aping camp, though they deny even that). So we love the band, but it can be tough to find a dope tee, probably because most of the originals have crumbled to dust and what remains are a bunch of bunk-ass reprints. The reason you want this one is not only because it's sleek and comfy (you can't rock an itchy, ill-fitting Bauhaus shirt, for reasons that should be obvious), but because quality, vintage tees with this texture and graphic are rare. And since the one I just sold went so quickly, I'm pulling this one from my personal collection (hadn't planned on selling this one--it fits me so well--but what the hell: good Bauhaus shirts are in such short supply). The image is a still from "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari," a masterpiece of German Expressionism (horror, silent). You'll be the only one at the dimly-lit dive bar in this puppy, and anyone worth talking to will recognize it immediately. 18" pit to pit, 27" back collar down. Sleek and soft. Flawless and broken in, yet sturdy as hell. Tons of life. Gothically dope!
